Experience a horseback adventure on our high country station. Whether a first time rider or born to the saddle, you will enjoy a stunning few hours within a horse riding landscape second to none in New Zealand.

Working with Glenorchy’s most respected horse riding outfitters, rides of varied durations for every ability are expertly catered for.

Perhaps our most popular ride “The Rees River Trail” showcases the best of the region.

This 2.5 hour ride caters for beginners, intermediate and experienced riders looking for a relaxed paced scenic trail. Designed to take in the stunning scenery that is Glenorchy, the Rees river trail takes clients across farmland and onto the Rees River.

You will experience crossing glacial fed waters, ride amongst the lupin / wild flower fields, and be awe inspired by our beautiful snow-capped mountain ranges known famously from LOTR, Hobbit, The Chronicles of Narnia, Mission Impossible and Wolverine origins.

Minimal riding experience required, but please note the weight limit of 95kgs/210lbs per rider.

Heli-Skiing

Mountains of untracked powder await. Blanket Bay offers an ‘À La Carte Heli-skiing’ menu to suit a wide range of skiing and snowboarding abilities. Each heliski option has been carefully designed to offer a great degree of flexibility, allowing everyone to experience the tranquility, freedom and exhilaration of heliskiing.

Fly & Heli-Fishing

Take a helicopter from the lawns of Blanket Bay to the most remote rivers of New Zealand’s South Island and experience some of the world’s best fly-fishing.

Hiking

Take a walk, a ‘Great Walk’. This premier track straddles both Aspiring and Fiordland National Parks passing through some of New Zealand’s most awe-inspiring alpine landscapes. The track is one of New Zealand’s Nine Great Walks and is maintained by the Department of Conservation.

Golf

The area offers a year-round golfing destination and is home to some of the most spectacular golf courses in the country. 5 Golf courses within 1 hours drive from Blanket Bay will appeal to every level of golfer.
